| The Helpline/211 provides telephone counseling, crisis intervention, and information and referral services 24 hours a day, seven days a week in English, Spanish and Creole. The Helpline was established in July 2005 to assist families and youth with accessing human services in Miami-Dade County. Certified Information and Referral Specialists dually trained in counseling and crisis intervention, staff the Helpline with the objective of effectively connecting each caller to the most appropriate services in the community. Counselors have access to a comprehensive Community Resource Directory(http://switchboardmiami.communityos.org) that is used to assist every caller in need of information and referral. They are experienced crisis interventionists, capable of managing complex cases even those that require suicide prevention. |
