A message from our campaign chairsDear United Way friends: Concerns about the economy are top of mind today. As campaign chairs, we hear those concerns expressed every day as we meet with contributors and prospective contributors. Yes, it’s no secret, these are tough times. The fact is our community is not new to challenges. Throughout our relatively short history we’ve faced many. Time and again, we’ve risen above each and every disaster – whether natural or manmade – have come together as a community, and done what’s right for the people of Miami-Dade. The 2008 United Way campaign presents us with that same opportunity. We know that there are people hurting in our community right now. We also know that when times are tough, the people in our community who are already living on the edge are even more vulnerable. Amidst the economic turmoil, one might be inclined to ask for a pass… a rain check this year. But for the countless individuals who count on United Way to make it through their every day, there is no rain check. They can’t wait for the economy to improve. We must be there for them today. Now is the time that we must all step forward . . . for ourselves, our neighbors in need and our community as a whole. We know that we all win when a child succeeds in school, when one more family achieves financial stability, when one more woman receives life-saving cancer screenings. This is our time and our opportunity to make a difference. It’s up to each of us to make sure that our friends and neighbors can survive this wave. We ask that you join us in making a gift today. It is going to take all of us doing our part to get through these tough times. Through our shared strength we can, once again, overcome the challenges we face today and build a better, brighter tomorrow for all. Thank you. Sincerely, Angel Medina Hector Mojena |
