United Way partners with FamilyWize to help families save on prescription drug costs

Hundreds of thousands of Miami-Dade residents lack reasonable access to affordable, quality health care and nearly three in 10 residents under age 65 do not have health insurance.  
 
In an effort to assist individuals and families in accessing the health care system, United Way of Miami-Dade has joined more than 675 United Ways nationwide in partnering with the FamilyWize Prescription Drug Discount Card program. The goal of this partnership is to help people save $100 million over the next four years. 
 
Benefits of the FamilyWize discount card:
  • No applications, no fees, no waiting
  • Covers everyone without health insurance or prescription coverage
  • No age, income or citizenship restrictions
  • 30% or more average savings on drug costs
  • Widely accepted at 95% of all pharmacies nationwide
  • Covers all medicine not covered by insurance, Medicaid, Medicare or other benefit plans
  • Can be used during Medicare Part D plans’ “doughnut hole”
  • All cards are bilingual (English and Spanish)
